Just like any other glove in the market, you need to keep them clean in order to extend their life. Weight lifting gloves or gym gloves can become dirty due to sweaty hands and dirty weights. The combination of these two can wear off such type of gloves pretty quickly. But if properly cleaned you can extend their life. Let’s find out how you can clean them easily.
Step 1: Soak in the sink
Put some warm water in the tub or sink and mix some soap or detergent to make it sudsy. After that submerge your gym gloves in the water and lightly massage using your hands to scrub off any dirt.
Step 2: Flip them inside out
By doing that it becomes easier to clean them from inside. After flipping inside out just repeat step 1. If the dirt is not coming off or leave your gloves soaked in the soapy water for some time and repeat the scrubbing process.
Step 3: Rinse thoroughly
After you are done with cleaning and scrubbing, it’s time to rinse them thoroughly to make sure there are no irritating residue left behind. Use only clean water to rinse your weightlifting gloves.
Step4: Toss in the dryer
Once your gloves are completely cleaned and rinsed, you can throw them into the dryer machine. But make sure its Velcro straps are secured to prevent them from catching other clothes. If dryer is not available, you can also air-dry them by leaving them in open space. Try not to place them in direct sunlight, as it may cause its fibers to weaken and lose their shape faster.
You can wash your gloves whenever you feel they need cleaning or smelly. It will also rid them from any bacterial presence inside. Enjoy your lifting workout in a clean and healthy manner!
